January 2016  Spring term 1

Dear parents,

Happy New Year, I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.

This half term our theme is colours.  We will be doing various activities to encourage the children to learn their colours in both English and Welsh. As well as learning about colours we will be celebrating St Dwynwen’s Day (Welsh Valentines Day), Chinese New Year, Shrove Tuesday, St Valentine’s Day, St David’s Day, World book day, Mothering Sunday, St Patrick’s Day and Easter.

Dates to remember

St David’s Day, Tuesday 1st March– Dress your child in traditional Welsh costume, Welsh rugby shirt or something red.

World book day, Thursday 3rd March – Dress your child as their favourite book or nursery rhyme character.

St Patrick’s Day, Thursday 17th March – Dress your child in an Irish rugby shirt or something green.

School admissions

We have received a letter from Pembrokeshire County Council asking us to inform parents about enrolling their children in to school.  If your child was born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014, the deadline for applications to be submitted is 31st January 2016.  If you need an application form or any more information on this then please come and speak to me.

Email

As you are aware we now give as much information to you as we can through email.  Unfortunately you are not all receiving the emails that I have sent out. This is either because I have taken down email addresses wrong or because they are going to junk mail/spam.  I would be grateful if you could check your junk mail/spam boxes to see if this is the case. If you are not receiving the emails that I am sending to you then please send me an email so that we can try to rectify this. Email info@pembssteppingstones.co.uk

Facebook

Our facebook page is up and running, as we get used to it we will be using it more to share pictures, special events and reminders with you.  If you haven’t done so already can you please like and share it.

Mobile phone

Don’t forget that we now have a mobile phone and our number is 07874671299.  If you need to get a message to us that is not urgent then we are happy to receive text messages.

Children’s records

Please can you make sure that all of the records that we hold for your child are up to date, if you have moved address or changed your home or work phone numbers please remember to inform us.

Mud kitchen/ outside play

Can I please remind you all that your children will be playing in the mud kitchen and that you need to make sure that they are wearing clothes that you do not mind them getting muddy and dirty.  It would be a good idea to leave a named pair of wellies here for your child to wear as we go out to play in all weathers.  If your child does not have a pair of wellies in nursery we would do our best to find a pair that fits them, however, this is not always possible. Therefore your child could end up playing in the mud in whatever shoes they have worn to nursery.

As always if you have any queries about anything then please do not hesitate to ask.
