Newsletter - April 2016

April 12, 2016

This half term our theme is numbers.  We will be using a different nursery rhyme each week to encourage the children to recognise numbers, to know them in Welsh and English and to count objects.  Each day during singing time the children already count their fingers 1- 10 and then backwards to zero, they then count them in Welsh.  We will be starting with numbers 1, 2 and 3 and would be grateful if you could make the most of opportunities that arise at home or when you are out and about to continue your child’s learning.

Sun cream

As the weather is getting warmer can I please ask that you bring in a named bottle of sun cream and a sun hat for your child that can be left at nursery.  As you know we are only allowed to apply sun cream that has been supplied by you for your child. Can I also remind you that when wearing summer clothes your children’s shoulders need to be covered by clothing as extra protection against the sun and that appropriate footwear needs to be worn. Although flip flops and strappy sandals look lovely they are not practical for when the children are running around the garden and accidents do occur.

Mud Kitchen

We will still be using the mud kitchen but as the weather gets warmer the children will not be wearing wet weather gear, please ensure your child is always wearing clothes that you do not mind getting muddy!

Fund-raising

After a lot of discussion we have decided that instead of raising money for big charities like Comic Relief and Children in Need that we are going to fund raise to help local charities. We will still raise awareness of these days but we will not be asking you for money on them. Each year we will choose one charity to raise money for and we will hold two fund-raising events within that year with all money raised going to the one chosen charity.

As staff we decided that this year we would like to support Pembrokeshire Action To Combat Hardship (PATCH). As of next year we will ask you as parents if there are any local charities that you would like to support.

As always if you have any queries about anything then please do not hesitate to speak to me.
